The event was attended by Benny Wenda, founder of the Free West Papua Campaign and West Papuan leader living in exile in the UK. Supporting statements were read out from MPs from around the world and lawyers from the group International Lawyers for West Papua.

- PETITION TO GET THE RED CROSS BACK IN WEST PAPUA The people at www.indonesiahumanrights.org.nz have set up an online petition asking for the Red Crescent to be allowed back into West Papua. On 1st December, people across West Papua will be demonstrating that this was their independence day which has been denied to them. We will be holding a solidarity demonstration outside the Indonesian Embassy and then moving on to the House of Commons where we will be delivering a copy of the new book “An Act of Free Choice: Decolonisation and the Right to Self-determination in West Papua” by Professor Drooglever.
