Sebby was arrested in Sentani - Jayapura after giving a press
conference demanding the release of Buchtar Tabuni from Papua police custody.
Both Buchtar Tabuni and Sebby Sambom were expressing their support for the
launch of the International Parliamentarians for West Papua (IPWP) which was
launched at the UK Houses of Parliament in London on the 15th of October 2008.
The launch of the International parliamentarians for West Papua at the UK
Houses of Parliament was co-hosted by Rt Hon Andrew Smith MP and Lord Harries
of Pentregarth. Buctar and Sebby led a peaceful demonstration on the 16th of
October 2008 and expressed their support for the International Parliamentarians
for West Papua. For expressing their support for IPWP, both Buctar and Sebby
are now in police custody and accused with subversive charges.
Free West Papua Campaign UK, International Lawyers for West Papua (ILWP) and
Asian Human Rights Commission has called for urgent actions for the release of
