Hundreds of Papuans vote after a day of delay PDF Afdrukken

Hundreds of Papuans finally voted for the legislative elections on Friday, a day later than fellow Indonesians in other parts of the country due to logistics failure, the General Election Commissions (KPU) said.

KPU chairman Abdul Hafiz Anshary said the election in Papua was carried out in 200 polling outlets in Yahukimo, Pegunungan Bintang and Paniai regencies.

Abdul said bad weather was largely to blame for the failure to deliver the election logistics on time.

“We even asked for the National Military (TNI) to send the logistics between two and three times,” he said. (nia)
